In 1924, Parker Brothers introduced a new game called HICKETY PICKETY. The earliest game boxes had "A NEW GAME" printed in the center of the box design. Later games simply said "A GAME", just deleting the word "NEW" without realigning the text.

Below are some examples of the game box evolution. Click on the images for more detail about each box design.

1924
Here is the original 1924 game box.

c.1930
This is the next version of the game from about 1930.

c.1940
This is the next version of the game from about 1940. Significant changes here - The HICKETY PICKETY logo is added along the top of the game board. The Parker Brothers logo on the lid of the box replaces LONDON with CHICAGO, a switch made about 1940. This game, though, still has the earlier instruction legals which still shows LONDON inside the box lid. This is a hybrid of the early and later games. Cool! In addition, the word NEW was dropped from the design but the text was not realigned. Now it just says A GAME.
